Mount Brown Lookout
Mount Brown Lookout which is 342 metres above sea level is within five minutes of the York town site and is reached via Pioneer Drive. The lookout is accessible by foot or vehicle, and provides a beautiful 360 degree panoramic view of York and its surrounds. Sandalwood Yards and Tipperary School
Sandalwood Yards and Tipperary School is the site of the depot for sandalwood, which was transported to Fremantle, then shipped to Asia for incense and oil. Hundreds of cutters made a living bush felling the wood in the mid 1860s. Very little sandalwood, an extremely slow growing plant, remains today. St Patrick`s Church
The present St Patrick's Church's foundation stone was laid on St Patrick's Day, 1875, and completed in 1886. The church was built of local stone in Gothic Revival design and features imported stain glass windows which were imported from Italy. The original Catholic Church commenced in 1859 and dedicated to St Patrick in 1860. It still stands today and is now used as the church hall. York is a 90 minute drive south east of Perth.
