Stay in the heart of the Fitzgerald River National Park.
Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat is nestled in the western part of the Fitzgerald River National Park - a stay here is truly a unique experience. The heritage listed Quaalup Homestead built in 1858 gives guests an impression of the early settlement days. It is used as a guest lounge with fireplace where home-cooked dinner or breakfast (booked three weeks in advance) is served.
The Retreat offers charming self contained two person units, secluded chalet, three bedroom cabin, on site vans and camping accommodation.
Enjoy our bush walks with views to West Mount Barren with many species of wildflowers, wake up to the bird calls, dream under star studded skies and explore the Parks attractions within comfortable distances. Boat access to the scenic Gairdner River with its red cliffs and abundance of seabirds is close by and kayaks/canoes can be hired.
The Fitzgerald River National Park, recognised by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, is one of Australia’s most botanically significant parks with beautiful wildflowers to be found all year round. The Park has magnificent scenery, mountain ranges, red cliffs, rivers, inlets and incredible white sanded beaches with the crystal clear blue waters. More kinds of animals live in this Park than in any other reserve in South West Australia; 184 bird species are found here, including rare species like the Ground Parrot.
You cannot stay closer to the beautiful beach of Point Ann where Southern Right Whales come to calve during their winter migration. There are two whale watching platforms and great walks around Point Ann.
The Retreat is situated 180 kilometres east of Albany, 510 kilometres from Perth (via Wagin) and 16 kilometres by four wheel drive (4WD) or 47 kilometres by two wheel drive (2WD) from Bremer Bay.
