
The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival honours `Banjo` Paterson and his legendary poem, `The Man From Snowy River`. It is said that the poem was inspired by high country stockman Jack Riley who met Paterson in 1890 and is buried at Corryong Cemetery.
The Highlight of the festival is the Challenge to find the modern Man from Snowy River. Australia s most skilled riders compete in nine events including bareback obstacle, brumby catching and whip cracking. The festival also focuses on traditional and original bush poetry, yarns and music.
There are many community events including a Street Parade, Art and Photography Exhibition ,a Community Concert ,The Reenactment, The Official Launch at the graveside of Jack Riley and a Ute Muster
