On November 22 & 23rd 2008, faith traditions will come together in the spirit of peace to celebrate at the Rye Interfaith Festival.
The festival will allow individuals and groups to learn more about each others beliefs and practices. In particular, traditions will demonstrate different aspects of their faith through talks, workshops, music, dance, art and food.
Talks - `What is this Faith`: Faith leaders will give an overview of their faith with explanations on rituals, customs and beliefs.
Workshops: Find out how different faiths tackle common issues such as `How To Forgive` in a more personal, respectful setting.
Music: Music is an integral part of spiritual practice. At the festival you will be able to listen to sacred music and sounds used to calm the mind, open the heart and uplift the spirit.
Dance: Dance and movement is an important part of culture and religion as it enable us to express joy and delight in being alive. Come and watch as faith traditions demonstrate their dancing techniques then invite you to join in.
Art: The festival will provide a rare chance to watch sacred art being created, including sculptures, calligraphy, sand-castles and mandalas.
Food: Eating is one of the great pleasures of life. At the festival you will have the chance to sample an array of international foods from various faith traditions and to taste the divine.
Come and celebrate with us in a fun and friendly atmosphere on Rye s beautiful foreshore (Rye Pier). Bring along the entire family as there will be special activities for the kids including story-telling, lantern making, face painting and various art workshops.
