Lavandula Swiss/Italian Farm

Lavandula is an historic Swiss-Italian farm, growing lavender, olives and grapes.


A pretty drive north from Daylesford, it`s a place to relax, walk in a garden that is beautiful and productive, find a secret place, picnic by the creek. Discover regional 1860s Italian architecture. Meet farm animals. Explore the barn full of potions good for body and soul.


Licensed cafe La Trattoria serves teas and lunches. Larger groups should book.


Lavandula is beautiful to visit in all seasons. Lombardy poplars line the driveway; built by goldseeking Italians from Switzerland, a cluster of 1860s stone buildings sits on a rise: the barn, the still room, the house, the cafe surround a vine-clad cobbled courtyard.


Beyond that are the lavender fields, the farmyard, gardens, orchards, vineyard and olive grove, a lake, and the paddocks rolling off to Mount Franklin.


Lavender blooms from November till February; sections of the pattern garden are pink, white, mauve and purple. The curving hedges of the main crop are violet. Through January the fragrant crop is hand-harvested with sickles.


Special events Our charming festivals showcase local foods and regional wines, artistic talent and rural skills; we have stalls and demonstrations, plant sales & horticultural advice, lovely acoustic music and petanque.January, a month in the lavender: our lavender harvest festival: Sunday 13th 2008(aromatherapy, skin care & massage, food and wine, music and art/sculpture in the lavender).


Swiss Italian Autumn Harvest Festival Sunday 29 April 2007: we harvest and process the farm`s produce for winter use.


And celebrate Italian-style with singing, music & dancing!La Primavera Sunday 28 October 2007: an afternoon of music to celebrate spring in the garden.
