Spend four days touring this unique island. Enjoy magnificent coastal scenery, see Australian native birds and animals in their natural habitat and visit the major attractions of the island.
Day One - Depart Adelaide at 0700 for Kangaroo Island. Travel along some of South Australia`s magnificent coastline en route to Cape Jervis to board the Kangaroo Island Sealink Ferry. Arrive in Penneshaw located on the northeast coast of Kangaroo Island where the mainland can be seen just 18 kilometres away across Backstairs Passage. Follow the coast to Antechamber Bay and Chapman River with great views of Antechamber`s long wide stretch of beach. Stop for morning tea and a stroll along the beach at Chapman River. Then on to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, the first lighthouse built in South Australia, completed in 1852 and the rugged Devil`s Kitchen located adjacent to the lighthouse. Head to Kingscote travelling via Windmill Bay and Mount Thisby the highest point in the area providing great views of Pelican Lagoon, the rolling hills and the Southern Ocean at Pennington Bay, a wonderful surf beach. Overnight at Kingscote.
Day Two - Today visit the south coast of the island. Highlights include: Seal Bay Conservation Park, for a guided walk on the large sandy beach where Australian sea lions rest and nurse their young. Little Sahara is an area of spectacular white sand dunes surrounded by bush vegetation. Murray Lagoon, a naturalist`s delight for a stroll amongst the habitat of many species of water birds. D`Estrees Bay and historic area once home to the whaling industry and site of many shipwrecks. Honey farm visit, time permitting. Overnight accommodation at Flinders Chase Farm.
Day Three - Destination for today is the southwest coast of the island. Highlights include: Vivonne Bay, base of the cray fishing and game fishing boats. Kelly Hill Caves for a guided tour of the sinkholes and caverns that lead to caves of ornate calcite formations. Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia`s largest National Parks covering 74,000 hectares. See many native Australian birds and animals in their natural habitat. At Rocky River see koalas in the nearby trees. Cape de Couedic Lighthouse, constructed in 1906. Admirals Arch is home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals. Travel east to Remarkable Rocks, a cluster of huge, weather-sculptured granite boulders perched on a granite dome that sweeps 75 metres to the sea. In the evening watch the Pelicans feeding at the wharf. Overnight accommodation at Flinders Chase Farm.
Day Four - Today`s highlights include sightseeing around Kingscote including Cygnet River, Duck Lagoon and Emu Bay. After lunch head to Penneshaw to board the Kangaroo Island Sealink Ferry for return trip back to Cape Jervis and transfer back to Adelaide, travelling via the McLaren Vale wine region (time permitting), arriving in Adelaide at 1800.

Telowie Gorge Conservation Park is home to the rare and beautiful Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby. Continue on to Port Augusta. Visit the Wadlata Outback Centre, learn about the origins of the Flinders Ranges, the Aboriginal Dreaming, explorers and much more. After lunch head into the Southern Flinders Ranges visiting the quaint townships of Wilmington and Melrose. At Melrose enjoy a short bushwalk into the Mount Remarkable National Park (the 1,500 kilometre Heysen Trail passes close by). Overnight accommodation at Mount Remarkable Hotel/Motel.
Day Two - After breakfast travel to Orroroo to see a magnificent 900 year old River Red Gum. It is South Australia`s largest River Red Gum measuring 10 metres in circumference. Next stop is the Pekina Ranges for a Top of the Range four wheel drive vehicle tour. These ancient Ranges rise 750 metres (2,400 feet) above sea level giving spectacular views in every direction. Engage four wheel drive and climb up through Sheoak Groves and large stands of Yakka trees to the ridge tops. Some of the Yakka trees are thought to be over 600 years old. After enjoying the serenity of the Pekina Ranges head back to Adelaide travelling via the picturesque Clare Valley wine making region, with an opportunity to sample some of the local wines, time permitting before arriving in Adelaide at 1800.

At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centre`s Tunnel of Time. We discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After lunch we head towards Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock. If you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to see the Yourambulla Caves, where we view Aboriginal rock painting. We spend tonight at Wilpena Resort.
Day Two - After breakfast we have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts and the Hill Homestead. After our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock (optional), which are major Aboriginal art sites. We then travel the geological trail through the Brachina Gorge. This gorge traces the geological history of the area for hundreds of million years. Our next stop is the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna where we taste some Aussie food (tucker). Blinman is our next destination before returning to Wilpena Resort.
Day Three - Depart Wilpena Resort at approximately 0900 for Adelaide via Hawker and Quorn. From Quorn we travel through the Southern Flinders Ranges to Wilmington. Adelaide is our next destination via the Germein Gorge. Arrive Adelaide at approximately 1800.

Day Two - After breakfast enjoy a trail ride of the station incorporating the true outback experience of mustering and droving stock or take a tour of the station. Learn about station life, flora, fauna and bird life from your Pandurra Station guide. Following tour, travel along winding gravel roads to the Gawler Ranges. Willow Springs Station is a 90,000 acre sheep property. Skytrek takes you through majestic River Red Gum lined creeks, groves of native pines and Black Oak to the top of Mount Caernarvon, the highest vehicle access point in the Flinders Ranges. Day Four - Depart Wilpena Resort at 0900 approximately for our return journey to Adelaide, travelling via Hawker and Quorn. From Quorn we travel through the Southern Flinders Ranges to Wilmington. Adelaide is our next destination via the Germein Gorge. Arriving in Adelaide approximately 1800.

Day One - Depart Adelaide approximately 7am for the opal mining town of Andamooka via Port Augusta, where we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in the Wadlata Outback Centre’s Tunnel of Time. Discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After morning tea we visit Woomera. This outback town was established in 1947 as a site for the launching of experimental rockets. Attractions include Woomera Heritage Centre and Missile Park displaying examples of rockets, aircraft and weapons associated with the testing range. Overnight Andamooka or Roxby Downs.
Day Two - After breakfast we head to William Creek via the Borefield Road and the Oodnadatta Track. At William Creek: the world’s most isolated pub, you can indulge in a well-deserved Australian beer. The most important claim to fame for William Creek is that it is the smallest town in Australia and that it is located on the world’s largest cattle station (Anna Creek Station), which is 32,500 square kilometres. We can walk along the old Ghan Railway Line to the bridge at Breakfast Time Creek This is a land of contrasts. There`s red gibber plains stretching to the horizon, mound springs (we visit Bubbler Springs and Blanche Cup Springs) which create bush oases and wetlands, red gum lined creeks and vast areas of Grey salt bush and spiky Spinifex. Remnants of the old Ghan Railway are abundant along the Oodnadatta Track. An optional flight over Lake Eyre North and South is available (own expense). Lake Eyre North, which covers 8,430 square kilometres, is 144 kilometres long and 77 kilometres wide is by far the larger of the two lakes. The creek like Goyder Channel joins Lake Eyre South to Lake Eyre North, which at its narrowest is only 150 metres wide. At the lakes lowest point it is 15.2 metres below sea level and drains more than one sixth of the continent. Overnight William Creek Hotel.
Day Three - Today we head to Coober Pedy in the heart of South Australia`s vast outback; it is an opal wonderland. We spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres which give a great insight into the town and its mining operations. There are more than 30 opal shops in Coober Pedy if you would like to purchase some opal. The town takes its name from the Aboriginal word Kupa (uninitiated man or white man) and Piti (hole). We also visit the Breakaway`s Reserve and Moon Plain before we head to Glendambo for our overnight stop.
Day Four We follow the Stuart Highway south revisiting Port Augusta on our return to Adelaide. Arriving at your accommodation at approximately 6pm.

After morning tea head to Iga Warta and spend some time learning about the Adnyamathanha Aboriginal people`s culture and environment. Participate in a bush food (tucker) walk and/or an Aboriginal art walk. After dinner spend some time sitting around a campfire sampling traditional damper with quandong jam, listening to stories and music of the Adnyamathanha people. Overnight camping accommodation at Iga Warta.
Day Three - After breakfast head to Arkaroola visiting Paralana Hot Springs where water emerges at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius from rocks containing Jasper and Ochre. Nearby is Yudnamutana Gorge, one of Australia`s deepest gorges. We also visit Stubbs Waterhole, an expanse of still water in a delightful setting reflecting the green foliage of gum trees and the blue sky, set deep between towering steeply tilted layers of rock formed from the debris dropped by melting icebergs around 700 million years ago. Overnight accommodation at Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary.
Day Four - Depart Arkaroola for Adelaide travelling via Chambers Gorge and Blinman. Next stop is Sacred Canyon for a short walk into the gorge. Sacred Canyon is one of the major Aboriginal art sites in the Flinders Ranges. After lunch at Wilpena Pound Resort head to Quorn, travelling through Buckaringa Gorge and Warren Gorge, time permitting. Stop for afternoon tea at Melrose and then continue our journey back to Adelaide arriving approximately 1800.

The opal is mined three to 10 metres down on ancient sea bed of one point eight million to 700 million years ago. From 24 separate fields, opalised shells, stones and dinosaur bones are still being brought to the surface. In Andamooka we see how wide the range of opal can be in the many showrooms. Take a trip to see the shimmering white salt of Lake Torrens, time permitting. We can also take a tour, learn about mining and go noodling. See the sights of Roxby Downs with an optional tour of Olympic Dam Mine (own cost). Overnight accommodation at Andamooka or Roxby Downs.
Day Three - Depart Roxby Downs for Marree travelling via the Borefield Road, see the Dingo Fence and Oodnadatta Track en route. Visit the Farina Ruins, first surveyed in 1878. After morning tea head to Lyndhurst via the ochre cliffs of spectacular reds and browns. After lunch travel through the magnificent Flinders Ranges to Port Augusta en route to Adelaide, arriving at approximately 1800.

Day One - Depart Adelaide at 0700 for Kangaroo Island. Travel along some of South Australia`s magnificent coastline en route to Cape Jervis to board the Kangaroo Island Sealink Ferry. Arrive in Penneshaw located on the north east coast of Kangaroo Island where the mainland can be seen just 18 kilometres away across Backstairs Passage. Follow the coast to Antechamber Bay and Chapman River with great views of Antechamber`s long wide stretch of beach. Stop for morning tea and a stroll along the beach at Chapman River. Then on to Cape Willoughby Lighthouse, the first lighthouse built in South Australia, completed in 1852 and the rugged Devil`s Kitchen located adjacent to the lighthouse. Head to Kingscote travelling via Windmill Bay and Mount Thisby the highest point in the area providing great views of Pelican Lagoon, the rolling hills and the Southern Ocean at Pennington Bay, a wonderful surf beach. Day Two - Today visit the south coast of the island. Highlights include: Seal Bay Conservation Park, for a guided walk on the large sandy beach where Australian sea lions rest and nurse their young. Little Sahara an area of spectacular white sand dunes surrounded by bush vegetation. Murray Lagoon, a naturalist`s delight for a stroll amongst the habitat of many species of water birds. D`Estrees Bay an historic area once home to the whaling industry and site of many shipwrecks. Overnight accommodation at Flinders Chase Farm.
Day Three - Destination for today is the south west coast of the island. Highlights include Vivonne Bay, base of the cray fishing and game fishing boats. Kelly Hill Caves for a guided tour of the sinkholes and caverns that lead to caves of ornate calcite formations. Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia`s largest national parks covering 74,000 hectares. See many native Australian birds and animals in their natural habitat. At Rocky River see koalas in the nearby trees. Cape de Couedic Lighthouse, constructed in 1906. Admirals Arch, home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals. Travel east to Remarkable Rocks, a cluster of huge, weather sculptured granite boulders perched on a granite dome that sweeps 75 metres to the sea. Day Three - After breakfast discover more about the history of shipwrecks in the area at the Warrnambool Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum. This life size village reflects the atmosphere of a coastal Port in the Nineteenth Century where many of the original buildings can be seen. An optional helicopter flight is available (at own expense) from the Warrnambool breakwater. Depart for Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road travelling through Port Campbell, Lavers Hill and the Otway National Park. It is along this section of the Great Ocean Road that the flat coastal plains end in a series of vertical cliffs, caverns, archways, blowholes and offshore rock stacks. See the spectacular rock formations of the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, London Bridge, Sentinel Rock and the Blow Hole. Day One - Depart Adelaide at 0800 for Wilpena Resort via Port Pirie, Port Germein and Port Augusta (the crossroads of Australia). At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centre`s Tunnel of Time. We discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After lunch we head toward Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock. If you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to see the Yourambulla Caves, where we view Aboriginal rock painting. We spend tonight at Wilpena Resort.
Day Two - After breakfast we have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookout and the Hill Homestead. After our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock which are major Aboriginal art sites. We then travel the geological trail through the Brachina Gorge. This gorge traces the geological history of the area for hundreds of millions of years. Our next stop is the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna where we taste some Australian food. Blinman is our next destination, where we can see remnants of the original township built in 1859. We also the Blinman Hotel (built in 1865 and still trading) for a well deserved ice cold Aussie beer before returning to Wilpena Resort.
Day Three - After breakfast travel along the Moralana Scenic route which follows Moralana Creek before setting of among well grassed pastoral country. The country surrounding the scenic route comprises views of the Elder Range and Wilpena Pound. Our next stop is Parachilna where we enjoy morning tea at The Prairie Hotel. After morning tea we had to Iga Warta where we spend some time learning about the Adnyamathanha Aboriginal people`s culture and environment. Today we participate in a bush food (tucker) walk and/or Aboriginal art walk. This evening after dinner sit around a campfire sampling traditional damper with quandong jam, listen to stories and music of the Adnyamathanha people. Overnight Iga Warta (camping).
Day Four - Our destination today is William Creek via the Oodnadatta Track. Our first stop is Lyndhurst where we visit the spectacular red and brown ochre cliffs. From the ochre cliffs head to the ghost town of Farina, which was set up in 1882 as a farming centre and railhead for wool and cattle. From Farina ruins we had to Marree where we stop for lunch. After lunch we continue along the Oodnadatta Track. This is a land of contrasts, there`s red gibber plains stretching to the horizon, mound springs (we visit Bubbler Springs and Blanche Cup Springs) which create bush oases and wetlands, red gum lined creeks and vast areas of Grey salt bush, spiky Spinifex. At Coward Springs you have a chance of a relaxing soak in a hot pool. Remnants of the Old Ghan railway are abundant along the Oodnadatta Track. Overnight William Creek Hotel. William Creek, the world`s most isolated pub where you can indulge in a well deserved Australian beer. The most important claim to fame for William Creek is that it is located on the world`s largest cattle station (Anna Creek Station), which is 32,500 square kilometres. A walk along the old Ghan Railway line to the bridge at Breakfast Time Creek can also be enjoyed.
Day Five - Today we head to Coober Pedy in the heart of South Australia`s vast Outback; it is an opal wonderland. We spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres which offer a great insight into the town and mining operations. There are more than 30 opal shops in Coober Pedy if you like to purchase some opal. The town takes its name from the Aboriginal word Kupa (uninitiated man or white man) and Piti (hole). We also visit the Breakaway`s Reserve and Moon Plains. Overnight accommodation in an underground motel.
Day Six - After breakfast our destination is Uluru/Ayers Rock via the Stuart Highway/Explorer Highway to Kulgera and Erldunda. From Erldunda we join the Lasseter Highway to Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park, arriving in time to see the magical sunset. Overnight camp Yalara.
Day Seven and Eight - We spend the next two days in Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park. This gives us plenty of time to appreciate the Aboriginal culture and environment on a two hour tour with an Aboriginal guide. We can also enjoy a walk around the base of Uluru/Ayers Rock. A number of optional tours are available from Yalara. These include a Harley Davidson Tour of Uluru/Ayers Rock, Camel rides to Uluru/Ayers Rock, helicopter flights over the rock and Olgas, many more are available. (Optional tours at own expense).
Day Nine - After breakfast we head to Kings Canyon. Here, a breathtaking walk around the rim of the canyon allows you to gaze down in awe at the sandstone chasm plunging 270 metres to the canyon floor, or we can venture down into the chasm and discover luxuriant cycads around the permanent waterhole in the exotic Garden of Eden. We can also discover traditional and contemporary Aboriginal culture with Lilla Aboriginal Tours on a journey through an area of sacred caves and paintings, learn about traditional medicine and bush food (tucker) and try your had at spear and boomerang throwing. Day 10 - We travel to Alice Springs via the Explorer Highway. Arrive at your accommodation in Alice Springs at 1800 approximately.

Spend a day in the Yorke Peninsula. Discover the Cornish mining heritage of the region and enjoy spectacular coastal scenery. Depart Adelaide for the Yorke Peninsula, travelling via Port Wakefield to Moonta. Visit the mine ruins of the Cornish miners of the 1890s, this area is known as little Cornwall. After morning tea, head inland to Maitland then onto Minlaton and across to Stansbury on the east coast. After lunch, travel along the coast road to Port Vincent and Ardrossan. The drive down the highway on the east coast is mainly within sight of the sea. From Ardrossan head back to Adelaide via Port Wakefield.

After lunch head to the Clare Valley. At Clare (named after County Clare in Ireland) visit some wineries and taste some of the Clare Valley`s famous wines. After lunch we head to Kingscote where we take in the sights including Duck Lagoon and Emu Bay. We then continue on to Penneshaw to board the Kangaroo Island Sealink ferry for the return trip to Cape Jervis. From Cape Jervis we head back to Adelaide, arriving at your accommodation at approximately 2200.

Day One - Depart Adelaide at approximately 0700 for Kangaroo Island. We travel along some of South Australia`s magnificent coastline to Cape Jervis where we board the Kangaroo Island Sealink ferry to Penneshaw. On arrival we take some time discovering Penneshaw which is situated on the north-east coast of Kangaroo Island, offering a commanding view of the mainland just 18 kilometres away across Backstairs Passage. We now follow the coast to Kingscote. On the way to Kingscote is Prospect Hill. The hill is the highest point in the area and provides a marvellous view of Pelican Lagoon, the rolling hills and the Southern Ocean at Pennington Bay, which is a wonderful surf beach. On a clear day looking north you can see Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills. We now head to the south coast of the island. It is now onto Seal Bay, a large sandy beach and dune area where Australian sea lions rest and nurse their young. We see these rare sea lions under the guidance of a National Parks Ranger. We walk on the beach within a few metres of the resting sea lions, basking in the sun. We now head to Little Sahara, an area of spectacular white sand dunes surrounded by bush vegetation. Climbing over the first ridge you are confronted by a second and much higher dune, which when scaled reveals more dunes flanked by bushland. Vivonne Bay is also visited and can only be described as stunningly beautiful. Vivonne Bay is the only safe harbour on the south coast of the island and is the base for cray fishing and game fishing boats. Overnight Flinders Chase farm stay.
Day Two - Today we visit Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia`s largest parks covering 74,000 hectares. Here you will see many of the animals and birds you have come to see. At Rocky River it is possible to view koalas in the nearby trees. At Cape du Couedic we view the lighthouse, which was constructed in 1906 and considered to be the islands finest structure. We then proceed down a walkway to Admirals Arch, the home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals. We travel east to Remarkable Rocks; a cluster of huge, weather sculptured granite boulders perched on a granite dome that swoops 75 metres to the sea. We now visit Parndana Wildlife Park (optional tour) where we see Kangaroo Islands largest privately owned collection of native animals and birds. We now take in the sights around Kingscote including Cygnet River and Duck Lagoon and Emu Bay. This long beach is one of the most popular spots on the island with safe clear water for swimming. We head to Penneshaw where we board the Kangaroo Island Sealink ferry for trip back to Cape Jervis. We now head to Adelaide, arriving approximately 2200.

On this five day tour we visit some of the best destinations in South Australia. We begin with two days on Kangaroo Island, an overnight stay in McLaren Vale, followed by three days touring in the Flinders Ranges.

Day Three - Depart Adelaide at 0800 for Wilpena Pound Resort via Port Pirie, Port Germein and Port Augusta (the crossroads of Australia). At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centre`s Tunnel of Time. We discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After lunch we head towards Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock. If you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to see the Yourambulla Caves, where we view Aboriginal rock painting. We spend tonight at Wilpena Resort.
Day Four - After breakfast we have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts and the Hill Homestead. After our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock (optional), which are major Aboriginal art sites. We then travel the geological trail through the Brachina Gorge. This gorge traces the geological history of the area for hundreds of million years. Our next stop is the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna where we taste some Aussie food (tucker). Blinman is our next destination before returning to Wilpena Resort.
Day Five - Depart Wilpena Resort at approximately 0900 for Adelaide via Hawker and Quorn. From Quorn we travel through the Southern Flinders Ranges to Wilmington. Adelaide is our next destination via the Germein Gorge. Arrive Adelaide at approximately 1800.

Day One - Depart Adelaide approximately 0900 for Mount Gambier via the South Eastern Freeway where we join the Princes Highway at Murray Bridge. We travel along the Coorong (a wetland of International importance, the Coorong and the adjoining Lower Murray Lakes stretch from the mouth of the Murray to north of Kingston. Less than three kilometres wide, it is an inland sea of shallow lagoons). At Kingston South East we visit the Analemmetic Sun Dial (one of only eight in the world). After lunch we head to Mount Gambier visiting the South East towns of Robe, Beachport, Millicent and Tantanoola. At Tantanoola we visit Tantanoola Caves (own expense). Overnight motel accommodation.
Day Two - We visit Little Blue Lake, Allendale East Sinkhole, Port Macdonnell (where we see The Petrified Forest, when the Southern Ocean was at the continental shelf and trees covered the coastline). After lunch we travel along this magnificent coastline to Ewen Ponds and Piccannie Ponds. Nelson is our next stop, where we enjoy a cruise on the Glenelg River viewing the magnificent high limestone cliffs of the gorge whilst exploring this premium waterway in comfort, to the spectacular Princess Margaret Rose Cave (own expense if time permits). Port Fairy is our destination this afternoon. This region is known as the Shipwreck Coast for the number of ships that came to grief in the surrounding waters (more than 1500 ships foundered along this coastline - only 500 have been discovered). These wrecks can be recounted in detail in Warrnambool`s Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum. Overnight Port Fairy.
Day Three - After breakfast we head to The Grampians spending the day exploring this magnificent region. Overnight Port Fairy.
Day Four - After breakfast we head to Warrnambool where we visit Warrnambool`s Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum (optional). This life-size village reflects the atmosphere of a coastal port in the nineteenth century. A walk around will enable you to enjoy the array of buildings, including the original lighthouse keeper`s cottage privy, chart room/common school, two operating lighthouses, the coastal fortification and the flagstaff from which the site derived its name. An option this morning is a helicopter flight (own expense) from the Warrnambool breakwater. Leaving Warrnambool, we head toward Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road travelling through Port Campbell, Lavers Hill, Otway National Park and Apollo Bay. It is along this section of the Great Ocean Road the flat coastal plains terminate in a series of vertical cliffs, caverns, archways, blowholes and offshore rock stacks. It is here we see the spectacular rock formations of The Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, London Bridge, Sentinel Rock and The Blow Hole. The Blow Hole is a large hole about 350 metres inland from the cliffs. Waves rush into it through a tunnel from the sea, the entrance to which can be seen from the cliffs. At Lavers Hill we visit Tower Hill. It is believed to have been formed 30,000 years ago by a volcanic eruption. Violent explosions created a shallow crater 11 kilometres in circumference, which now holds a lake. A climb to the Tower Hill peak offers spectacular views of the ocean, Warrnambool and surrounding farmland. From Lavers Hill we visit Cape Otway Lighthouse in the Otway National Park. The Lighthouse has been a valuable navigational aid since its light first operated in August 1848. The light, at a height of 91 metres, has a range of 38 kilometres in clear weather. We now make our way to Apollo Bay for our overnight stop.
Day Five - Depart Apollo Bay approximately 0900 and head to Lorne where we visit Erskine Falls, Henderson Falls and Won Wondah Falls. Melbourne is our destination via Geelong.

Days Three and Four - Today we spend some time learning about the Adnyamathanha culture. We participate in a bush food (tucker) walk and/or Aboriginal art walk. This evening after dinner we sit around a campfire sampling traditional damper and quandong jam, listening to stories and music of the Adnyamathanha people. Overnight Iga Warta (camping).
Day Five - Our destination today is William Creek via the Oodnadatta Track. Our first stop is Lyndhurst where we visit the spectacular red and brown ochre cliffs. The ochre pits provided ceremonial colour for the Aborigines. From the ochre cliffs we head to the ghost town of Farina. From Farina ruins we head to Marree where we visit the Arabunna Aboriginal Centre. We continue along the Oodnadatta Track. This is a land of contrasts, there is red gibber plains stretching to the horizon, mound springs (we visit Bubbler Springs and Blanche Cap Springs) which create bush oasis and wetlands, red gum lined creeks and vast areas of grey salt bush spiky Spinifex. At Coward Springs you have the chance to have a relaxing soak in a hot pool. Remnants of the old Ghan Railway are abundant along the Oodnadatta Track. Overnight at William Creek. William Creek has the world`s most isolated pub where you can indulge in a well deserved Australian beer. The most important claim to fame for William Creek is that it is the smallest town in Australia and that it is located on the world`s largest cattle station (Anna Creek Station), which is 32,500 square kilometres. A walk along the old Ghan Railway line to the bridge at Breakfast Time Creek can also be enjoyed. Optional flight over Lake Eyre Basin is available at own expense.
Day Six - Coober Pedy is today`s destination. Overnight in an underground motel.
Days Seven and Eight - Coober Pedy in the heart of South Australia`s vast outback is an opal wonderland. We spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres, which give a great insight into the town and its mining operations. There are more than 30 opal shops in Coober Pedy if you like to purchase some opal. Overnight underground motel. We also visit The Breakaways, Moon Plain and The Dingo Fence.
Day Nine - After breakfast we head to the Explorer Highway where we enjoy a sealed road again. On the way to Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park we visit Mintabie, which is an active opal mining town. Noodling for opal on old dumps is a popular pastime.
Day 10 - After breakfast our destination is Uluru/Ayers Rock via the Stuart Highway/Explorer Highway to Kulgera and Erldunda. From Erldunda we join the Lasseter Highway to Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park, arriving in time to see the magical sunset. Overnight camp Yulara.
Day 11 and 12 - We spend the next two days in Uluru and Kata Tjuta National Park. This gives us plenty of time to appreciate the Aboriginal culture and environment on a two hour tour with an Aboriginal guide. We can also enjoy a walk around the base of Uluru or for the fit and energetic a climb to the top of this magnificent monolith. A number of optional tours are available from Yulara. Day 13 and 14 - After breakfast we head to Kings Canyon. Here a breath taking walk around the rim of the canyon allows you to gaze down in awe at the sandstone chasm plunging 270 metres to the canyon floor. Or we can venture down into the chasm and discover luxuriant cycads around the permanent waterhole in the exotic Garden of Eden. We can also discover traditional and contemporary Aboriginal culture with a tour to Lilla Rockhole, journey through an area of sacred caves and paintings, learn about traditional medicine and bush food (tucker) and try your hand at spear and boomerang throwing. Day 15 - Travel along the Mereenie Loop Road through Aboriginal land to Alice Springs via the West MacDonnell Ranges. Arrive Alice Springs approximately 1800.
Day 16 - Free day in Alice Springs.
Day 17 - Depart Alice Springs and head to the Western Australian town of Halls Creek travelling along the Tanami Track. The Tanami is the epitome of what most of us regard as a desert - a vast, flat and featureless landscape where water is scarce. The notorious track cuts a 1,050 kilometre sandy course from Alice Springs to Halls Creek through unforgiving country. The track takes us past the rich Tanami and Granites gold mines. Overnight Tilmouth Roadhouse.
Day 18 - Travel the Tanami Track to Rabbit Flat.
Day 19 - Leave Rabbit Flat for Wolfe Creek meteorite crater where we have lunch. We now head to Halls Creek. Overnight Halls Creek or The Bungle Bungles (Purnululu). This spectacular rock formation consists of dome shaped mountains, sheer walls and deep gorges over an area of 500 square kilometres. An optional helicopter flight over the Bungles is recommended.
Day 20 - After breakfast we visit Wyndham and Kununurra. At Wyndham we visit the five rivers lookout for views of the gulf. Overnight Lake Argyle.
Day 21 - Leave Lake Argyle and head to Katherine where we spend the night at Katherine Gorge.
Day 22 - After breakfast we head to Kakadu (not sure on this yet as it depends on how much time we spend at Tilmouth).
Day 23 - Katherine to Darwin.

Day Three - After breakfast we have a look around Darwin before we head to Kakadu National Park. En route join the Adelaide River Queen for a jumping crocodile cruise. After cruise we follow the Arnhem Highway, passing some termite mounds, to Ubirr. Here view Aboriginal paintings and sweeping views of the surrounding Kakadu wetlands. Bowali Visitor Centre is our next stop before heading to Nourlangie Rock art sites. A one and a half kilometre walk will take you past an ancient Aboriginal shelter and several art sites. Cooinda Lodge and Yellow Waters are our last stop for the day. Overnight Cooinda Lodge.
Day Four - After breakfast we follow The Kakadu Highway back to the Stuart Highway. On our way to Katherine visit Edith Falls for a relaxing swim (optional). Katherine is our next stop before heading to Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge). Visit Katherine hot springs on the banks of the Katherine River. This shady spring fed thermal creek is an ideal swimming area. Upon arrival at Katherine Gorge visit the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre where we experience the Aboriginal culture and discover more about this unique environment. We now have a choice of a two hour cruise or a canoeing adventure in Katherine Gorge. Overnight Nitmiluk.
Days Five - Today we head to Tennant Creek via the Stuart Highway. Visit the historic town of Mataranka (Land of the Never, Never). The town is in the heart of Never, Never country because it is said that those that live in the area can never, never leave. Also visit Mataranka thermal pool, a constant 34 degrees Celsius and flows from Rainbow Springs at an amazing 30.5 million litres a day. Return to the Stuart Highway visiting Daly Waters for lunch. Overnight Tennant Creek.
Day Six - Alice Springs is today`s destination arriving late afternoon.
Day Seven - We spend the morning exploring Alice Springs before heading to Kings Canyon via the Western MacDonnell Ranges arriving late afternoon. Overnight Kings Creek Station.
Days Eight - After breakfast head to Kings Canyon. Here, a breathtaking walk around the rim of the canyon allows you to gaze down in awe at the sandstone chasm plunging 270 metres to the canyon floor. At Wilpena have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts and the Hill Homestead after our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock, major Aboriginal art sites (time permitting). Here, a breathtaking walk around the rim of the canyon allows you to gaze down in awe at the sandstone chasm plunging 270 metres to the canyon floor. Or we can venture down into the chasm and discover luxuriant cycads around the permanent waterhole in the exotic Garden of Eden. Day Nine and 10 - Spend the next two days in Uluru/Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta National Park. Day 11 - Today we head to Coober Pedy in the heart of South Australia`s vast outback, an opal wonderland. The town takes its name from the Aboriginal word Kupa (uninitiated man or white man) and Piti (hole). We also visit the Breakaway`s Reserve and Moon Plain. Overnight in an underground motel.
Day 12 - After breakfast we spend some time visiting mines and interpretive centres which offer a great insight into the town and its mining operations. There are more than 30 opal shops in Coober Pedy if you would like to purchase some opal. After lunch we head to William Creek via the Oodnadatta Track. William Creek is the world`s most isolated Pub where you can indulge in a well-deserved Australian beer. The most important claim to fame for William Creek is that it is the smallest town in Australia and that it is located on the world`s largest cattle station (Anna Creek Station), which is 32,500 square kilometres. A walk along the old Ghan railway line to the bridge at Breakfast Time Creek can also be enjoyed. Overnight William Creek Hotel.
Day 13 - Our destination today is Marree via the Oodnadatta Track. This is a land of contrasts, there`s red gibber plains stretching to the horizon, mound springs (visit Bubbler Springs and Blanche Cup Springs) which create bush oases and wetlands, red gum lined creeks and vast areas of Grey salt bush spiky Spinifex. At Coward Springs you have a chance of a relaxing soak in a hot pool. Remnants of the old Ghan railway are abundant along the Oodnadatta Track. Our first stop is Lyndhurst where we visit the spectacular red and brown ochre cliffs. From here we head to the ghost town of Farina, which was set up in 1882 as a farming centre and railhead for wool and cattle. From Farina we head to Marree where we stop for lunch. After lunch we continue along the Oodnadatta Track. Overnight Marree.
Day 14 - After breakfast head to Wilpena Resort via Blinman, where we can see remnants of the original township built in 1859. Also visit the Blinman Hotel (built in 1865 and still trading) for a well-deserved ice-cold Aussie beer. At Wilpena have a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts and the Hill Homestead after our walk we visit Sacred Canyon and Arkaroo Rock, major Aboriginal art sites (time permitting). Day 15 - Depart Wilpena Pound Resort at 0900 for Adelaide traveling via the geological trail through the Bunyeroo Gorge and Brachina Gorge (this gorge traces the geological history of the area for hundreds of million years), Hawker, Port Pirie, Port Germein and Port Augusta (the crossroads of Australia). From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock. If you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to see the Yourambulla Caves, where we view Aboriginal rock painting. At Port Augusta we explore the Flinders Ranges and outback in Wadlata Outback Centre`s Tunnel of Time. Discover its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming, European settlement and much more. After lunch we head towards Adelaide, arriving at approximately 1800 at your accommodation.

We travel along some of South Australia`s magnificent coastline to Cape Jervis where we board the Kangaroo Island Sealink ferry to Penneshaw. On arrival we take some time discovering Penneshaw which is situated on the north-east coast of Kangaroo Island, offering a commanding view of the mainland just 18 kilometres away across Backstairs Passage. We now follow the coast to Kingscote. On the way to Kingscote is Prospect Hill. The hill is the highest point in the area and provides a marvellous view of Pelican Lagoon, the rolling hills and the Southern Ocean at Pennington Bay, which is a wonderful surf beach. On a clear day looking north you can see Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills. We now head to the south coast of the island. It is now onto Seal Bay, a large sandy beach and dune area where Australian sea lions rest and nurse their young. We see these rare sea lions under the guidance of a National Parks Ranger. We walk on the beach within a few metres of the resting sea lions, basking in the sun. We now head to Little Sahara, an area of spectacular white sand dunes surrounded by bush vegetation. Climbing over the first ridge you are confronted by a second and much higher dune, which when scaled reveals more dunes flanked by bushland. Vivonne Bay is also visited and can only be described as stunningly beautiful. Vivonne Bay is the only safe harbour on the south coast of the island and is the base for crayfish fishing and game fishing boats. Overnight Flinders Chase Farm.
Day Two - Today we visit Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia`s largest covering 74,000 hectares. Here you will see many of the animals and birds you have come to see. At Rocky River it is possible to view koalas in the nearby trees. At Cape du Couedic we view the lighthouse, which was constructed in 1906 and considered to be the islands finest structure. We then proceed down a walkway to Admirals Arch, the home to a colony of New Zealand Fur Seals. We travel east to Remarkable Rocks; a cluster of huge, weather sculptured granite boulders perched on a granite dome that swoops 75 metres to the sea. We now visit Parndana Wildlife Park (optional tour) where we see Kangaroo Island`s largest privately owned collection of native animals and birds. We now take in the sights around Kingscote including Cygnet River, Duck Lagoon and Emu Bay. This long beach is one of the most popular spots on the island with safe clear water for swimming. We head to Penneshaw where we board the Kangaroo Island Sealink for trip back to Cape Jervis. We now head to McLaren Vale for overnight stay, arriving approximately 2100. Day Three - After breakfast we head to Victor Harbor where we walk along the historic causeway to Granite Island for a peaceful stroll. Our next stop is Goolwa. We return to the McLaren Vale wine region to visit some different wineries. While we are in the McLaren Vale we visit Dridan Fine Arts and Fleurieu Showcase (one of South Australia`s most respected galleries). Arriving at your accommodation at approximately 1700. Day Four - Depart McLaren Vale for the Clare Valley at approximately 0800. The Clare Valley is a 90 minute drive north of Adelaide. Nestled amongst wooded hills, rolling vineyards and neat pastures, the region is renowned for its historic towns, fertile soils and elegant wines that have a reputation for quality and character. Whilst we are in Clare we visit Seven Hill Cellars, Jim Barry Winery and Skillogalee Wines where we have lunch. Several other wineries are visited depending on available time. Day Five - After breakfast we head back to Adelaide via the Barossa Valley where we visit several wineries before heading back to Adelaide.
