Red Earth Expeditions is a 4WD adventure tour company, based in Adelaide, whose philosophy is to take visitors in comfort and safety to South Australia`s most wild, most beautiful, most rugged and most remote places.
Come with us to experience South Australia`s truly special destinations that are only accessible in a 4WD vehicle. Test your skills and be exhilarated by the challenge of travelling where few have gone before you.
Enjoy the scent of the native pines and discover the rocky redgum-lined creeks and steep ascents of the Flinders Ranges.
Marvel at the contrast between the harsh, sun-bleached gibber plains and the wetlands and springs that bring life to the Oodnadatta Track.
Be inspired by the sculptured, rainbow-streaked monoliths, and ancient eroded landscapes of the Painted Desert.
Cross the untamed, yet brimming wilderness of the Simpson Desert.
And there`s so much more we can show you! We assist you to travel in your own vehicle or we can arrange for a fully kitted hire vehicle from one of our 4WD corporate partners. We can deliver what you need.
Why Red Earth Expeditions? While we have a new name and a new company, we`ve been operating tours into remote areas for many years and our tour leaders have well over 75 years of combined experience.
We want as many people as possible to understand and appreciate just how wonderful remote Australia can be. The people and the animals of these places each have their own story to tell. All you need to do is be there!
We limit the number of people on our tours to ensure your experience is great and our environmental footprint is as small as possible.
Our experience and attention to detail means that you can enjoy every inch of the places we visit. We take the worry out of the preparation and we lead you to places you wouldn`t otherwise see.
Join us for an experience that might be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure or it may be your annual retreat into the remote outback. Either way, we offer you, in fact we challenge you, to discover our outback. Safety, comfort and support we will deliver. You need to bring a sense of adventure. Are you up for it?

The first white man to view the Simpson Desert was Charles Sturt in 1845 when he discovered and named Eyre Creek. Ted Colson first crossed the desert by camel in 1936 followed by Cecil Madigan in 1939, but it was not until 1962 that Reg and Griselda Sprigg and their young family accomplished the first crossing by vehicle. Experience the real outback with Red Earth Expeditions. Follow in the historic footsteps of many great Australian explorers and encounter the remoteness endured by those who journeyed here in the past.
