Arid Recovery is an ecosystem restoration initiative based in the South Australian outback and dedicated to the restoration of Australia`s arid lands.
Established in 1997, the project is centred around a 60 square kilometre fenced reserve from which all feral cats, rabbits and foxes have been eradicated.
This has provided an area of complete protection into which four species of locally extinct mammals have so far been reintroduced.
Arid Recovery is a unique example of a highly successful partnership between industry, government, education and community via the four way partnership that supports Arid Recovery.

Take an Arid Recovery tag-a-long tour to an 86 square kilometre reserve, which uses a unique feral proof fence design to protect a patch of desert and restore it to pre- European condition. This reserve is the largest fenced reserve in Australia from which all cats, foxes and rabbits have been removed.
Enjoy a one kilometre guided interpretive walk through dunes and swales to a viewing platform where you will enjoy a spectacular desert sunset overlooking the arid landscape. Then continue to the viewing hide at dusk for a chance to view locally extinct animals, which have been reintroduced including Burrowing Bettongs, Greater Stick Nest Rats and Greater Bilbies. A variety of native reptiles, birds and mammals such as the Spinifex Hopping Mouse may also be seen. Tours last for approximately four hours
