The public course at Paracombe offers some of the most scenic and challenging golf holes in South Australia. You will play over hills and down into valleys with wide fairways, past rows of poplar trees, pine, eucalypt and other native flora. Wild duck frequent the dams, which provide irrigation water during summer.
Water and sand hazards are waiting to trap the errant shoemaker. Club selection becomes critical on many tees. The fifth, a 208 metre par three, a long shot over a valley to a relatively small elevated green. The seventh, a 181 metre par three over a reedy creek, through a window of gum trees to an elevated green. The narrow fairway fourteenth, a 268 metre par four with danger on the left. On to the fifteenth, a downhill and dogleg right 260 metre par four, which can destroy a scorecard for those attempting to drive the green.
So if golf is your game and you enjoy a challenge, treat yourself to 18 attractive golf holes only 25 kilometres from Adelaide.
