With spectacular panoramic views of Adelaide and surrounds just 20 minutes drive from the city centre, Mount Lofty Summit is a must see and do for any visitor to South Australia!
Mount Lofty is the highest point south of the Flinders Ranges. At 710 metres above sea level the summit landing provides you with breathtaking views of the cities landmarks, and coastline - extending as far as Kangaroo Island, more than 100 kilometres away on clear days.
The summit complex comprises a Visitor Information Centre, a souvenir shop featuring local arts and crafts and Australian-made products, as well as a Restaurant/Cafe with stunning floor to ceiling picture windows.
Mount Lofty is also the crossroads for several excellent bushwalking trails, including the Yurrebilla Trail and section of the world-class 1,200 kilometre Heysen Trail.
Enjoy a stroll through lush native bushland and discover some of the regions other great highlights, including the award-winning Cleland Wildlife Park (four kilometres return) and the gushing waterfalls of Waterfall Gully (eight kilometres return). Walking trail brochures can be purchased from Mount Lofty Summit Visitor Information Centre, phone (08) 8370 1054.
You can also take in the vista from the Summit Restaurant/Cafe, which offers a tempting modern Australian menu and a great selection of South Australian wines. Delicious morning and afternoon teas are also available. The Restaurant/Cafe is open seven days for breakfast and lunch, and five nights a week for dinner. For bookings, phone (08) 8339 2600.
