The Grange now the Charles Sturt Museum was the home of Captain Charles Sturt and his family from when it was built in 1840 until they returned to England in 1853. Captain Sturt was one of Australia’s most famous explorers his River Murray expedition paved the way for settlement in South Australia.
Much of the furniture on display in the house was used by the Sturt family and sent out from England after the house was restored in the 1960s. The former nursery wing is now an exhibition gallery.

Fort Glanville, commissioned in 1880, was taken over by the Commonwealth in 1901, by which time it was of no strategic importance and its flanking guns were given to the City of Adelaide in 1907. Jervois Basin, in the upper reaches of the Port River, was the major ship-breaking site in Port Adelaide between the early 1900s and the late 1960s. Vessels salvaged in this area included large and small wooden and iron sailing ships, steamers and tugs. This lookout on Montefiore Hill was designed in 1938 to incorporate the life size bronze of Adelaide's founding father, Colonel William Light, who was responsible for fixing and surveying the site of the City of Adelaide in the summer of 1837.
The statue, designed by Scottish sculptor Birnie Rhind, was first unveiled in Victoria Square in 1906, but it was moved in the mid 1930s because it had become a traffic hazard. Light's father was Captain Francis Light, the founder of Penang.

The main entrance on North Terrace is accentuated by four great ionic columns on the exterior of the building and approached by a flight of granite steps. Saint Ann's Church and Cemetery are situated on the flat Aldinga plains, lying some 45 kilometres from Adelaide on the Main South Road to Cape Jervis.
Within the cemetery there are footpaths giving access to all the graves and on these paths are bench seats for the comfort of visitors who may wish to rest awhile and look around.
