Celebrate Australia Day with an outback breakfast and joining the fun of unique Australian novelty sporting events at Tennant Creek.
On 26 January the nation celebrates what`s great about being Australian with official and formal functions as well as fun activities with family and friends. The `Golden Heart` town of Tennant Creek celebrates all day starting early with the official flag raising and singing of the National Anthem. Then join participants to dine on a generous outback `Aussie breakfast`.
Refuelled and ready for some fun, head out to nearby Tingkkarli/Lake Mary Ann to compete in a range of very Australian activities, including egg catching, sack races and thong throwing. The highlight of the day is a raft race on the lake.
The Australia Day Barkly Triathlon is run on and around the lake and afterwards there`s a free barbecue for everyone to enjoy.
