Sunset Champagne Tour

As the day draws its final breath and twilight beckons, it`s time to glide through the reflective pools of sun-rays and pink and orange cloud that dance on the pristine waters of the Bellinger River. You can hear the gurgle of water as your paddles mechanically work their way from front to back. Then 100 white egrets round the corner on their final flight for the day and head for the mangroves.

We make our way to the creek mouth and watch the light fade over `Old man Dreaming`, a face etched into the Great Dividing Range. Then our guide gives a historic account of Bellingen and its surrounds. As we head back, a bat crosses our path and swoops to take a mouthful of water, and then a white flock of geese fade into the impending blackness.

As we round the corner a pelican slowly closes its eyes, then the stars emerge in to view, then more and more reveal themselves, winking at us all, knowing we`re all going to finish the trip with a glass of champagne. A toast to another beautiful day.

Hire a Canoe

Prefer to go canoeing without a guide? Create your own adventure with a choice of single, double or triple canoes. Each person is provided with a lifejacket, paddle and map of the river. This map will have detailed sections on where to paddle, what to see on the river, where to swim, picnic spots and the various flora and fauna to watch out for. Should you decide to paddle to Bellingen, Raleigh Winery, Mylestom or Urunga, transport is provided at no additional cost.

Our canoes/kayaks are well maintained and fantastic for beginners and children. All are flat-bottomed, making it nearly impossible to tip into the water. They also have footrests and backrests for your comfort.

For a Half Day or Full Day Hire, we suggest to take a picnic, bathers and other provisions so that the day can be enjoyed, stopping along the banks.

Flat Water - Bellingen Canoe Adventures offers a unique and unforgettable experience exploring the rich flora and fauna that make the local estuaries, creeks and billabongs their homes, while passing dolphins and watchful eagles add excitement to the tour. Did you know cows can swim? If you opt for the afternoon tour, you will encounter local farm dogs rounding up Fresian cows for their daily river crossing pilgrimage. We find bridges to limbo under and have a swim in the clear waters.
