With an area of 17,000ha this park includes 38km of beach, sections of littoral (coastal) rainforest, heath lands, coastal cypress stands, lagoons and wetlands. Curious rock formations abound, notably at Black Rocks and near the Esk River - the longest natural coastal ecosystem on the north coast. Perfect canoeing conditions are found on the sheltered inland waterways.
