The Studio is a working art studio and base for around 30 Aboriginal students practising art as part of their Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander Cultural Arts at Certificate II and III levels through TAFE.
The students (artists) practice a range of art including painting, sculpture, woodcarving, wood burning, screen-printing and digital photo manipulation inspired by both Traditional and Contemporary Arts. The traditional art comes from the Gamilaroi (Kamilaroi) tribe, the original inhabitants of the Moree Area in North West New South Wales.
It is free to come in and visit the students and see them at work. The Studio is open from Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 3:30pm during school term – or by appointment. If you are coming to Moree especially to visit the Studio, please contact The Studio direct to check school term dates or to arrange an appointment.
The students works are available for sale.
The Studio presents a wonderful opportunity to see young Aboriginal artists at work.
