Lord Howe Island Walking Tracks and Hiking Trails

These walking tracks and hiking trails offer an ideal way to explore and enjoy Lord Howe Island. A network of walking tracks and hiking trails criss-cross the Island taking you to various points of interest from the palm forest at sea level to the mist forest on the mountain summit. Interesting native flora and native land birds including the rare Lord Howe Woodhen can be seen along the way.

The walking tracks and hiking trails range in difficulty from very easy to hard. All are well marked with signposts, and maps and guides are available for purchase on the Island.

It is a good idea to carry a water bottle and follow normal bushwalking safety rules such as not going alone, allow plenty of time to return before dark.

Northern Section walking tracks: TRANSIT HILL Grade 3, Clear Place Grade 2, Stevens Reserve Grade 1, Max Nicholls track to North Bay Grade 4.

Southern Section walking tracks: Coastal track to Rocky Run and Boat Harbour Grade 5, Goat House Grade 8. Intermediate Hill Grade 6, Little Island Grade 2, Mount Gower Grade 10 (only with a licensed guide), Mt Eliza Grade 3, Old Gulch Grade 1 and Malabar Grade 3.
