One of the most unusual is the Balancing Rock, 12 kilometres south of Glen Innes on the New England Highway. The gigantic boulder of granite rests precariously on a 300 millimetre point amongst other rock formations.
Balancing Rock is on private property. The rock is about 150m from the highway. To view the rock simply stop as the rest area which is marked with a sign to say Balancing Rock.

Gibraltar Range National Park is situated on 25,407 hectares. The national park is on the Gwydir Highway, 79 Kilometres from Glen Innes and 104 kilometres from Grafton.
The strength and character of this rugged range are felt immediately its immensity is sighted. It is a park of contrast, of giant granite tors and grass trees standing in silhouette with waratahs and ferny creek cascades. Above the ridges, eagles circle in silence, soaring around the mountains.
Glen Innes is well known for its beautiful parklands situated through the centre of town, straddling the quaint rocky ponds for three blocks.
The parks are a great place for travellers to stop and have a rest as there are barbecues, tables and picnic facilities, as well as toilets and playground equipment for the kids.

The Land of the Beardies History House Museum is a folk museum; the collection comes almost exclusively from the town and district, and mirrors the history and development of families, businesses, properties, public utilities, churches of the Glen Innes area. In the spacious grounds are numerous examples of early farm machinery horse drawn vehicles, an entirely original slab cottage, antique clothing, and early photographs of the district to medical instruments.
A lovely and little-known reserve on one of our most picturesque rivers. Swim, paddle a lilo, or stretch out and relax on a smooth boulder. Suitably equipped bushwalkers with topographic maps can explore the wilder parts of the river upstream.
While in the park you could do a spot of canoeing, fishing as the sunsets, swimming, bushwalking, picnicking by the water or camping. The park has caravan access, public toilets, picnic tables and BBQs and lots of scenic walking tracks.
Located along the famous convict carved road; Old Grafton to Glen Innes Road you will find this old historic Tunnel was built by a contractor in c1866-68; is situated approximately 120 kilometres east of Glen Innes. It was hewn out of rock by convicts in the last century.
