Kempsey Area

Relax into the unhurried seaside ambience of South West Rocks, at the mouth of the Macleay River. Here you’ll find ideal conditions for surfing, diving and
bushwalking. Don't miss the quiet fishing villages of Crescent Head, Hat Head and Stuart’s Point. Feast your eyes on the expanse of coastal scenery, and

Visit the heritage-listed village of Bellbrook. Enjoy a bushwalk in Hat Head National Park or Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve. Step back in time to historic Trial Bay Gaol, in the Arakoon State Recreational Area. See the Museum and settlers cottage and aboriginal food tree park in Kempsey. Surf at Crescent Head, world-renowned point break, and stay for a night or two at Smoky Cape Lighthouse.

At Kempsey, visit the home base of that great Australian icon, the Akubra Hat.

Kempsey also has two wineries, tenpin bowling, a deer park, craft centre, museum and historic walks of the town.
