Explore the heritage sites of Alice Springs.
The Alice Springs Heritage Festival is a week-long celebration of local heritage. It gives locals and visitors a chance to explore the characters and history of early Alice Springs. Heritage buildings all over town are open to the public and play host to a variety of functions. Historic displays and exhibitions provide opportunities to look deeper into lifestyles and developments that have taken place in the Territory over the last century. There will also be guided historic walks of the Alice Springs township.
Films made on location in Central Australia during the 1930s, 1940s and 50s will be screened for the festival. They demonstrate how people lived in such remote, isolated but also beautiful settings. `Tell Us A Yarn` invites participants to hear some of the Centre’s great yarn spinners tell stories as they have done for years around the campfire.
