Gunnedah - This particular meridian is the basis of the Eastern Australian Standard Time, used in Queensland, New South Wales (except Broken Hill), Victoria and Tasmania.
The 150 Degrees East Meridian crosses the Oxley Highway 34 kilometres south-west of Gunnedah. Methods of measuring time have varied over the ages, but the time unit most commonly employed has been the apparent daily circuit of the sun, from which solar time is derived.

Gunnedah - The Bindea Walking Track is a 22-km walk which can be subdivided into a series of shorter loops, taking in the commercial and residential sections of town, the Porcupine Reserve, Porcupine Lookout and Avards Lookout. Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Statue
Gunnedah - In 1905, during a visit to one of her family`s properties `Kurrumbede`, the
breaking of a harsh and prolonged drought inspired Dorothea Mackellar to
write the first draft of what was to become Australia`s most beloved poem;
`My Country`. The poem was later finished in England.
A life-sized, bronze statue now stands in Anzac park as a permanent memorial
to one of Australia`s best known daughters. The memorial is the work of

Gunnedah - Gunnedah and district is home to an expanding, healthy koala population. They can be easily seen in and around the town. By day they are mostly sleeping in their favoured eucalyptus and sometimes, in the early morning or evening, seen sauntering from tree to tree along the footpath or crossing streets!

Gunnedah - Featured in the front garden of the home of Don McDonaugh is an
interesting collection of model trains. The miniature rail circuit runs
around the edge of the lawn and the system is complete with buildings,
bridges, tunnels and signals. Businessman Don McDonaugh has been a train buff
all his life and spends many hours in the front yard at Barber Street.
Demonstrations outside weekends can be made by contacting the Gunnedah
Visitor`s Centre.

Gunnedah - Western Paintball operates paintball (skirmish) playing field at Gunnedah. Paintball is an outdoor action shooting adventure game.
