Lithgow - The need for a police centre in the Hartley Valley led to the construction of
the Hartley Court House in 1837. Over the next 50 years a bustling village
grew around the court house. The area was the judicial and administrative
centre, with churches and accommodation, a post office and staging facilities.
It served both travellers and settlers west of the Blue Mountains.

Lithgow - Blast Furnace Park is a monument to Lithgow`s industrial history. It was here that the first iron and steel were cast in Australia. William Sandford
established the blast furnace in 1886 and it continued production until 1928 when the entire industry was move to Port Kembla.
The site has now been developed as a park around the remains of the pump house and the furnace foundations. There is a pleasant walk around Lake
Pillans Wetland is adjacent to the park.
Lithgow - Bridges are not just functional, they can also be scenic and engineering attractions. Spare a few minutes to admire McKanes Falls Bridge.
Mt Piper Power Station Energy Expo
Portland - Mt Piper Power Station and Energy Expo:
The Mt Piper is Detlta Electicity`s newest power station suitated 25kms west
of Lithgow, in the Blue Mountains.
The Energy Expo caters for all with interactives, videos and displays.
Public facilities such as barbecues, tennis courts, a children`s playground
and extensive landscaping make it an attractive setting.
During most of the year the area is home too many hundreds of wild kangaroos,
drawn to the area by the large expanses of grassed areas.

Wallerawang - St John`s was erected by Mrs. Georgina Abbott as a memorial to her parents, Mr. & Mrs. James Walker and her first husband, Mr. Edwin Barton. It was designed by Blacket & Son, architects and built by George Donald, opening on 6th November, 1881 as the `Wallerawang` estate private chapel. From its opening it was used by Presbyterian and Anglican Churches and was given to both on 18th November, 1952. Services are held at this beautiful little church on the first and third Sunday of the month.
Clarence - `All aboard` The beautiful steam powered engine whistles to life as she moves off from Clarence station for the ride down the escarpment.
The Great Zig Zag Railway, the original rail line into the Lithgow Valley, was opened in 1869. The line was hailed as an engineering masterpiece of the 19th century. Today, the historic tourist railway, traverses the 7 1/2km track, operating steam trains and vintage diesel locomotives.
