Cooma - Cooma Railway Station was opened in 1889, and rail services to Cooma ceased in 1988. Visitors can still experience the nostalgia of rail travel on a 1924 rail motor. The rail motor departs the historic railway station each weekend (note, days and times vary seasonally and depending on school holidays
periods), and travel north to Bunyan - or further north to Chakola. Charters are available outside regular times.
Cooma - A unique presentation of the history of the Monaro District, re-created in 40 ceramic mosaics which were constructed to commemorate Australia`s Bicentenary in 1988.
The events represented in the mosaics are:

New South Wales Corrective Services Museum
Cooma - Located in the beautiful, historic and functioning Cooma Gaol, this museum highlights the varied 200 year history of the Correctional Services in New South Wales with information, displays and artefacts from the convicts through to the modern day system. Inmates guide tours through the museum. Inmate arts and crafts for sale along with Aboriginal art.
Cooma - Past Times Country Craft Centre is situated five point eight kilometres from Cooma on the way to Jindabyne at Travellers Rest. Travellers Rest was originally opened in 1861 during the Kiandra Gold Rush when 10,000 prospectors sought their fortune in the desolate landscape of Australia.
