Gently undulating hills provide a picturesque backdrop for the cool clear water, and the grassed area is a popular picnic spot with its shaded tables and barbecues. Swimming, canoeing and fishing are some of the activities the weir is used for. No powerboats are allowed.
Take a walk to the rock face wall of the weir where nearby a bronze plaque commemorates the discovery in 1942 of the first known specimen of Western Australia`s own Noisy Scrub bird.
Drakesbrook is an irrigation dam which collects the overflow from Waroona Dam. The dam is stocked annually with Rainbow Trout, and has a population of Redfin, Perch and Marron. Barbecues, toilets and shelters are provided.
