Abingdon Miniature Village, Barragup

Abingdon Miniature Village in Mandurah, Western Australia is a miniature display of historic buildings from the United Kingdom, set amongst two acres of beautifully manicured gardens.

These 1:10 scale buildings are exact replicas of many well known historic buildings from all parts of the United Kingdom. Walking through the extensively landscaped gardens is like stepping back in time to Olde England as you marvel at the incredible detail of more than 30 miniature buildings.

A self guided tour takes visitors past the ornamental lake and miniature steam train, canals, locks and barges to the town of Abingdon, the oldest continually inhabited town in England. Replicas of Abingdon County Hall and Church of Saint Nic`s have taken more than 600 hours each to complete and like all of the models are exact in every detail.

The Shakespeare series includes such well known buildings as Anne Hathaway`s Cottage, while the Village Green, complete with a cricket match, is typical of many small English villages.

The gardens are magnificent with more than 4000 plants of 300 different species and varieties, some rare and difficult to obtain. Over 5000 annual flowers are rotated three times a year providing a dazzling display of colour for most months of the year.

For the adventurous types, the 1000 square meter English Maze will be a challenge and is lots of fun.

After strolling through the gardens, treat yourself to morning or afternoon tea, a Devonshire or light lunch at the beautifully restored and delightfully decorated heritage tea rooms `Ruby House`. Built in the 1930`s it was moved to its current location, renovated to funtion as a tea room and decorated to retain its old world charm.

The grassed picnic area has tables and chairs under the shady trees and is situated adjacent to the covered childrens playground so that parents can relax while watching their children playing.

This attraction is unique in Western Australia, and provides something new and different for people of all ages. Plan to visit soon, as it will prove to be a most relaxing and enjoyable experience.
