All Saints Church Collie

This striking landmark of the town of Collie is situated on the corner of Venn and Harvey streets. Built with money donated by a benefactress in far away England, it was proudly opened in 1915.

Mrs Noyes, the benefactress, also gave the church a magnificent set of six polished brass candlesticks and an altar crucifix, which are believed to date from the 17th Century.

The church is built in traditional Norman style. The ceiling, floor, pews, pulpit, lectern, altar and altar rails are built from local jarrah.

A feature of the church is the large mural in the sanctuary. This was also donated by Mrs Noyes. On the extreme right of the mural, you can pick out two miners framed by the mouth of a pit tunnel. On the opposite side of the mural, look for two aborigines sheltering under a tree. These human touches among the ecclesiastical figures, add much interest to this fine mural.

Inscribed upon a modest plaque inset into the western wall, are the words `This church is built to the glory of God and all the Saints triumphant and to the clear and radiant memory of Colonel Arthur Noyes, Prince of Wales regiment, who died in Cairo, January 20th, 1908`.
