Powerhouse Discovery Centre

The Powerhouse Discovery Centre Collection Stores at Castle Hill is the Powerhouse Museum’s newly opened publicly-accessible storage facility, which houses objects from one of the world’s greatest compilations of science, technology, design, decorative arts and social history-related items.

The Discovery Centre, with its centrepiece, The Display Store (featuring over 3,000 objects), its on-site tours and education programs, aims to showcase more of the Museum’s world-class collection and give visitors a behind-the-scenes view of how the Museum cares for and preserves its collection.

The Display Store features transport-related objects, including coaches, cars, steam engines, planes, trams, tractors and buses. It also houses a selection of objects across a range of disciplines, from decorative arts and design, costume and textiles, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Collection, Australian history and exploration and scientific tools and machines.

Open Tuesday to Friday from 10.00am - 4.00pm for pre-booked visits and during school holidays.
